Mission and Goals
The Office of Cultural Diversity collaborates with faculty, students, staff and alumni to implement programs that support the University’s commitment to inclusivity, equity and multiculturalism. In addition, the Office of Cultural Diversity staff develops and implements programs and services that affirm and support the retention and graduation of African American, Asian/Pacific American, Latino/Chicano, International, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender students.

- Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender (GLBT) Services is responsible for developing and evaluating programs and services that affirm GLBT people and their allies in support of their academic success and social development, while encouraging an environment that promotes and appreciates multiculturalism.

- International Student Services (ISS) assists international students with the admission process, advisement and registration, personal and financial concerns, and compliance with U.S. government regulations. ISS staff members work with the UMD International Club to organize activities and connect students with the campus and local community.

- Women’s Resource and Action Center (WRAC) seeks to provide all women at UMD support and encouragement and works to empower women, both individually and collectively, through the provision of a wide variety of services and resources.

Office of Disability Resources
The Office of Disability Resources facilitates accommodations and support to students with disabilities. Disability Resources also develops and implements programs that empower students with disabilities to grow in self-image and self-confidence. Students learn to access needed accommodations and generalize learned skills and strategies to areas beyond academics. Additionally, Disability Resources works to increase faculty understanding of students with disabilities and collaborates with them in creating equitable and inclusive learning environments.
