Mission and Goals

  • African American
    The mission of the African American Student Programs is to unite students of African, African American and Caribbean descent. It also serves as a link to the greater Black community in Duluth and surrounding areas. It increased the awareness and appreciation of Black history through educational, cultural, and social programming. The African American Student Programs works as a unifired force toward enhancing the conditions and environment for Back students on campus and serves as a support network.
  • Latino/Chicano
    This mission of the Latino/Chicano Student Programs is to enhance students recruitment, retention, and graduation. In order to achieve this mission the LC SP also works closely with other campus departmets, faculty, and staff to develop a climate in which racial harmony and cultural diversity is valued, appreciated, and accepted.
  • Asian/Pacific American
    The mission of the Asian/Pacific American Student Programs is to create, enhance and enrich the educational experience at UMD. Our mission is to recruitment, retention, and graduate Asian/Pacific American students, while promoting a more culturally diverse campus environment. We work in conjuction with UMD departments, staff and faculty to create an array of supportive services and programs to empower and aid the succes of our students, and to enhance their educational experience.
