Ovation Guest Artist Concert: A Far Cry
Thursday, November 20, 2008
7:30 pm, Weber Music Hall

In 2007 a tightly-knit group of young professional musicians living in Boston with roots in the New England Conservatory of Music realized they shared a common vision. They had diverse backgrounds and career experiences, having performed with major symphony orchestras, string quartets, and as soloists, but they were drawn together by a desire to do more. Seeking the freedom and flexibility of chamber music as well as the power and beauty of an orchestra, they founded A Far Cry as a collectively-led sixteen piece string orchestra. After a raucous first set of rehearsals, A Far Cry made its debut in May 2007 with a series of concerts that emphasized energy and enthusiasm as much as refinement and precision. These musicians, all of whom are in their 20s, inspire audiences with their superb musicianship as well as their youthful passion and enthusiasm.
