UMD's Civil Engineering building is working towards LEED Gold certification. LEED is a rating system developed by the US Green Building Council to encourage sustainable development. The rating system gives points based on sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. This will be the second LEED Gold building on campus, the other being the new Labovitz School of Business and Economics. Read more information about LEED-Certified buildings.
